The Symbol of the Dove in the Bible – By Bible History Daily

This is truly an interesting article, and reinforces my view that we must understand the Jewish background of the New Testament in order to understand the symbols and narratives in it.

Doves don’t always play a big part in our christian theology, but they do in Pentecostalism due to the representation of the Holy Spirit. But this is a good introduction of how the dove was seen in the Old Testament, and other cultures, and how it ended up representing the Holy Spirit within early Christianity.
